The Earth orbits the Sun once each year while rotating on its own axis every 24 hours. At the same time, the Moon revolves around the Earth every 29½ days, accurately displaying the lunar phases. As the Earth travels through the twelve signs of the zodiac, the months and days are clearly indicated on an easy-to-read flat dial.

Technical highlights include an 8-day, 4/4 Westminster chime on four polished gongs, a Power-Flow seconds hand, a mainspring, a Swiss escapement with 11 jewels, polished plates, and an automatic nighttime chime shut-off. Milled depictions of the zodiac signs on an openwork, polished rosette disc, a finely crafted calendar display, and the rotating tellurium arm featuring the Sun, Moon, and Earth complete this exceptional work of art.
